Nvidia becomes the first $5 trillion company

Nvidia became the first company in history to reach a $5 trillion stock market valuation in October 2025, a milestone that underlined just how much of the AI boom depends on its chips. The company’s shares had already made it the world’s most valuable business earlier in the year, but investor enthusiasm kept building as cloud providers, AI labs and governments raced to secure GPUs for ever-larger data centers.
The rally wasn’t just about one product line. Nvidia’s newest chip architectures were being built into massive AI infrastructure deals signed throughout the year, with major cloud and AI companies committing tens of billions of dollars to lock in future supply. Analysts pointed out that Nvidia’s valuation had roughly doubled in under twelve months, an unusually fast climb even by tech-industry standards, leaving the company worth more than the entire stock markets of many mid-sized countries combined. For a chipmaker that was a niche player in gaming graphics only a decade earlier, the $5 trillion mark was a striking measure of how central AI hardware has become to the global economy.
