Pan Am’s revival flight sells out in three days at $59,950 a ticket

Iconic American airline Pan Am, which ceased operations in 1991, staged a one-off revival flight in summer 2025, its first in more than 30 years. The retro-branded journey sold out within just three days despite an eye-watering $59,950 (roughly £45,500) price tag per ticket.
The sellout reflected a broader “retro revival” trend industry analysts flagged as one of the defining travel patterns heading into 2026, with travelers showing renewed appetite for nostalgic, throwback travel experiences even at extreme price points. The trend sat alongside other emerging 2026 travel patterns, including a rise in “ticket travel” built around single marquee experiences and growing interest in newly accessible destinations, such as overnight stays opening for the first time in the heart of Australia’s Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
