Sunland Big Baobab

The Sunland Big Baobab is located in South Africa’s Limpopo Province and according to carbon dating, the tree is estimated to be around 6000 years old.  At 153 feet in circumference and 72 feet high, the Sunland Big Baobab is the largest tree in its species.  When trees of the baobab variety reach 1000 years old, they begin to hollow inside.  In 1993, the owners cleared out the center and added a door, allowing visitors to trek inside the tree and belly up to the Baobab Tree Bar and Wine Cellar which can accommodate 60 people.
