Broadband Radar
While nightvision systems are helpful, radar is even better for having a picture of your surroundings in dense fog or inclement weather.
The Ady Gil is utilizing a technology called Broadband Radar -- which, unlike conventional radar -- emits not a pulse, but a single continuous transmission wave with increasing frequency. This translates to superoir target definition and separation -- allowing crew members to tell the difference between boats, whales, and other items in the water.
